I'm sure most of you have noticed the lack of new meshes on this site for a while now. Even if you're new here, you can see by the lack of news updates that it's been very slow. I've been looking at ways to change that!

Fact is that I don't have enough time to properly add meshes to this site. So I've appoited two Mesh Moderators. These two people (FoxGirlJade and Troy2000) will now have full access to the STMC database, and they will work on adding new meshes to the STMC.

The best way from now on to have new meshes hosted here is to contact either of them in the forums. A new forum has been setup specifically for this here. You can go here to request to add your mesh, or to point out a mesh that you think should be here. Also, you can see if anyone can do a conversion for you, and the moderators can then add the conversion to the STMC.

Hopefully this will get the STMC going again! Aside from new meshes, have a look at the public gallery. Render up your best image and display it there, it's a nice way to get feedback and meet people!

I'm changing my email address, mostly because of the spam received on it. Since it was shown openly on this site it attracts hundreds of spammails per day.

I've changed the site so that email addresses are no longer visible. Email from the site can now be sent to me via this form. If you find any open links (links that open your email software, called "mailto:" links) please let me know.

Again to prevent spambots from picking up the new address, I won't list my new email here. For now you can send emails to the old address, or use the webform through the site. Once I've completely switched everyone will receive an email with the correct address.

I'm moving again...

EirJet, my previous employer in Ireland has gone bankrupt. I have already got a new job offer with easyJet in the UK, and will start with them monday, the 13th of November. Those of you that have been around long enough may remember that my first job was with easyJet as well. They were kind enough to take me back :). I will be flying the Airbus A319 with them.

Initial basing will be East Midlands Airport (near Nottingham), but I hope to transfer to a mainland Europe base soon.

During the first 2-4 weeks I'm unlikely to have my own pc with me but I will be around the forums. If anything needs updating or changing I will probably be able to do it.

After a long time I have put a new mesh on-line. It's not completely new as it's based on the work of Mike Wright and Ed Giddings, but the final product has been worked on and modified on all parts by Mike Dilliott. As you can see, the resulting mesh is certainly worth his work!

With this I would like to personally apologize to Enzolima. He has also submitted a mesh; it's not been forgotten! I will get to it ASAP.

I have coupled the public gallery to the new user database. Everyone will now have to use their username/password combination registered in the new forums. If you haven't registered yet, your old username and password will now no longer work and unfortunately you'll have to re-register with the new forums. This shouldn't take a minute, though.

Voting in the public gallery is now done on the comments screen, and the vote you cast on an image is displayed. This should make it easier to see voting behaviour.

You can both vote without adding a comment, and add comment without voting. However, if you vote and do not comment, an empty comment is added anyway for other users to see your vote.

I hope this will solve some of the past problems!

I have put on-line a new forum, so you can all discuss what happened here if you want. And of course, to continue using it to help one another out.

I do have backups of the old threads but I'm not even going to go through getting them into the new forums, as I simply do not have the time for that.

The user database for the new forums will be coupled to the public gallery soon. However, at the moment for the public gallery please use your old username and password. Unfortunately, if you're new here you won't be able to use the gallery until I have completed this work.

If you can't get to the new forums, please go to your "Extra -> Internet options" menu and click "delete files" to clear your cache if you're using Microsoft Internet Explorer. Other browsers will have a similar way of clearing the cache. Then close the window, open a new one and come back to trekmeshes. That should fix the link.

Enjoy, and hopefully this will be the end of this.

The public gallery uses the user database from the forums. As the forums are no longer usable, new registration is not possible for now. Current users can continue to use the gallery without problem.

I'm looking for alternatives to IPB. You see, the new versions are no longer free, which is why a vulnerable version was still installed (in misplaced but good faith). I know there's other alternatives but for reasons stated below it's not really a priority in my life. I am looking into it when I need a distraction though. It may be very soon, it may take some more time. If there's more attacks on other parts of the site it'll never, ever happen. But rest assured I'm doing the best I can right now.

To the hacker(s): It must be a lot of fun to break into a site, with the intention to bring it down. It's a lot of fun to take away something that people all over the world are using. It's great fun to show others what you can do, even though it's in actual fact just doing something that someone else invented for you.

Well, I (Erik Timmermans, webmaster) couldn't give *******. Right now I have other things on my mind. I'm moving across the globe trying to find a nice place to live. I may well be about to loose a very young family member of mine. Do you think I care about what you can do to my site? That it impresses me?

This site has run without being broken into since 1998 (and there have been vulnerabilities, like with every site). For 8 years people haven't seen a need to ruin it. That's made it fun. Right now, I cound't care less, ruin the forums, ruin the gallery, ruin the site. Do what you like. I'll just take the whole thing off-line. And it will never come back. And you know what? I may feel better for doing it.

So eat your heart out. I hope you enjoy it. I certainly don't but the demise of my long-running site isn't really an issue for me right now.

Exactly one year later and I'm moving again! This time I'm leaving Sri Lanka for Ireland. My ADSL will be disconnected today and soon after my pc will be shipped off. I'll monitor the site but don't expect any huge updates until I'm in Ireland (2 weeks till I'm there, and then I'll have to wait for a broadband connection).

Any questions or comments? Just post them on the forums, I've opened a topic to keep you up-to-date.
