Need to contact Raul Mamoru

Post by Kirk101 »

Dear Trekmeshes,
I need to make contact with Raul Mamoru, as my Enterprise designs Nuno Gurerro has beeen working on has been sent to him for final work. Nuno has told me that Raul does not speak English, so I am not quite sure what is the best way to communicate with him about what I have in mind for my design, as far as the finished look is concerned. I have not as yet seen what Nuno has done, so I am very keen to know what she looks like. If anyone has contact details for Raul could you please let me know. Any translators would also be very handy too :)))

Hi, Spencer!

I Am Not Spock, but "I have been monitoring your Trekmeshes transmissions, Captain, your 3D design difficulties."

The design resembles the old school of ILM.
The general lines of the Enterprise and the Excelsior merged into a new dimension of diplomatic cruisers, but armed enough for a prompt response to a warlike aggression.

It is a fact that I tried starting the "Excellent Enterprise-A."
(Open the image in a new Window / Tab.)

Our companion, Nuno Guerreiro (Portugal), requested support for this endeavor.
I studied the case and noticed some inconsistencies in the original schematic.
There are many straight lines, indentations and protrusions that views can not explain.
So I suggested to Nuno create their own adaptations, keeping in mind the "follow the
design philosophy" shown in the movies.

Well, I do not know how is the progress of this work.

However, I say that is a good design.

And in my humble opinion - as a lover of the Enterprise Refit -
The structure of the nacelle, could be placed upside down.
(This gives to the rest of the design, continuity to the spirit of Captain Kirk.)
(Open the image in a new Window / Tab.)
Image

*) If I understand well, Nuno Guerreiro sent to me some finished work?
I never received anything related to "finalizing".

**) I could model the ship slowly, but lack complementary visual information, for example:

There is much confusion in the back of the dorsal connection.
The back view shows windows, doors, torpedo launcher, all seem entering or exiting the hull.
But when trying to interpret this information using the side view, it gets complicated.
(There are several other inconsistencies spread between views.)

***) There are two ways to do this:
A more improved schematic, accompanied by architectural information in perspective.

Or, give to the modeler freedom to make feasible the adaptation to fitting all information contained in the schematic.

(I apologize for any errors generated by electronically translation.)

Hey Raul, Spence here. First of all, thanks so very-very much for your good time to take up my design. Your work is truly beautiful and immensely inspiring, and I know she will turn out just beautiful with you. Regarding the inconsistencies, I am happy to send you my latest specs. I can also do perspective drawings of parts that may be difficult to grasp from the elevations alone. Where I fail to visualize in perspective, which will be around the inner tail area of the nacelles (very tricky there) I will just have to try my very best to explain that in words. I have many other drawings that will indeed help you to see how things are, so please let me know what you need and I will be very happy to send them over to you.
Btw, the nacelles do look good inverted to refit style, but I am very attached to my baby, so if you like, we can do two versions if you have time :)
Anyway, thanks so much for contacting me, I have been very much looking forward to connecting with you, and I look forward to working with you further.

I did a reboot in the modeling process.

The secondary section - engineering - seems to have two separate parts on the front, which merge at the end.
Can you illustrate this section in perpective separately? I.e. without the pylons without the saucer section and without dorsal connection. (Below, an idea of a "graphical enlightenment" )
Image
And there are other 3-dimensional details of this section unclear in the schematic (protrusions and recesses for example.)

Thanks!

Hi, Spence!

I watched the last video.
I'm also pleased with the progress shown in the video.
Congratulations.

Since my last post, I have made progress with your design.

Surely, you will see slightly different details, but are the result of certain discrepancies between the views of visual information.
In these situations, skirted applying some artistic freedom.

But I believe that the whole work is very close to the original concept.
(I must admit: The model shown in the video is superior and more professional.)

Wait for updates, ok?

That looks absolutely fantastic, Raul!! Beautiful work!! :))))
Do you have the 3ds Max file handy for me to look at?
What would be really good is if I send you mine and you match the details to yours you do not have yet.
I love the finer detail you have done on her and this looks so good to me! :))
I will post these pics up on my FB page today in an album dedicated to your work and progress.
Keep up the fantastic work, and if you need any more perspective shots, just let me know.

A few other helpful tips for you, Raul...
1. The nacelles need an exhaust port out the back, which is indented and tucked-in behind the inner-edge "fin"...
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =3&theater
2. The jut behind the deflector crystal is not at 90 degrees but at a sloped straight angle...
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =3&theater
3. The lower curve of the saucer has an angle like this (I think this looks better than the plans)...
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =3&theater
4. Here is some bridge detail to help you, but the c-cirlce is not curved on the edges, but corner-angles as on the plans. The inner circle also sinks "in" to the hull slightly, so the bridge window is seen (hidden) half in, and half out from front view...
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =3&theater
5. Here is a close-up of the inner details of the impulse exhausts...
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =3&theater
I hope this helps, and I will try and get my latest Max file to you very soon.
Best from Spence :)))

Sorry, but...

You could have provided this information to me beforehand, instead of saying "visit my facebook" or "watch my videos."
I'm not here for this.
My job is to model parts with the best possible result.

And even on facebook, the images are of low resolution.
Well, the modeling is about 70% (or more) complete.

And I will continue as is.

Updates soon...
