the Obj. Format

Post by Sherlock Holmes »

I have heard from differnt sources, including here, that obj. can be read by about and 3d software. A friend of mine says though meshes are usually bare with no textures... can someone fill me in how obj. works?

Usualy the model is without textures if the program doesnt import the material library. (.MTL) This contains the texture info like 3ds max's material editor.

For good material conversion you will need a plugin though, or some other conversion program. I recommend a program like Polytrans by Okino or Deep Exploration by Right Hemisphere . But there might still be some work when converting. Not all conversions go as smooth as you would expect.
