My friends!

The wait is over. I'm leaving the Ferengi fleet dock.

In my view, the model is complete. (I have other missions to accomplish on the docks of Starfleet)

Three versions were created.
1. Poly original model (for STMC).
2. Low Poly model (for STMC).
3. Low Poly model with Normal bump map (request made by our fellow Xsnip3rX).

The gallery features new pictures of models.

I apologize for the delay.
And I appreciate the patience of all the followers of this topic.

Thank you all!

Odd to see a quality mesh of a Ferengi ship.
Doesn't that violate some Ferengi "Rule of Acquisition"?
Another fine mesh Mr M!

Well, the Ferengi avoided revealing details of their technology.
I told them I owned a good amount of gold from the planet Earth.
This opened the doors.

But they do not know that I'm back home without this gold deposit.

In a few hours, the Ferengi shall see, here at STMC, the ship being distributed for free!

Fine ship Raul! 8)
I don´t know why, but when downloading her (max and 3ds), I only receive a file with 0 bytes...

All other downloads, for any ship, works fine. 8)

Hi, Starship!

As far as I know, I sent one mesh only in obj format.

The download options for 3ds/MAX must be the result of some automatic model page.
I guess.

Very nice raul. Beautyful mesh again. I think erik has put up extra links. Unfortunaly they don't work. The OBJ works fine. Exept no smoothing groups are present and i had to add a lot of extra vertices (especialy along the windows because they had overlapping faces)

If you have trouble importing try this obj importer.exporter plugin http://www.guruware.at/main/objio/index.html

Thanks Chainsaw!

I know what you mean.
Are the result of Boolean operations, is not it?

Well, I did some tests here and the overall result was satisfactory.
But if you have any suggestions for at least minimize these negative results, please share with me.

I am grateful in advance.

I take this opportunity to say that Max 9 file was sent to Erik, to not let the link empty.

Guys, I did actually write this about the download links on the Marauder download page :). It specifically states the 3DS and MAX links don't work.

Since the STMC website doesn't natively handle OBJ, I have to put one or two other formats in otherwise the mesh won't show up in the listing.

Anyway, Raul has sent me the MAX version and this is up now as well. The 3DS link is still empty!

Olá Raul,

Yeah cutting windows is a pain in the ass. There are several ways of doing it. The most common is creating a shape and subtracting it from the main mesh. (boolean subtract) I usualy use a proboolean on imprint mode and then cut the shape out of the model. Then delete the innner faces. But the best results are cutting it manualy. A video on how to do that can be found here:

Hi, Chainsaw!

I watched the videos. This technique is laborious.
Apply this technique for each window of the Ferengi ship would cost an eternity and a half.

A maneuver to avoid tensions boolean post, would increase the density of the mesh to be cut.

The result would generate a too heavy object for animated renderings.

Anyway, boolean is a complicated subject.

Thanks Chainsaw!
