A thank you

At LAST! I finally get some time to register and comment!
It would seem that thanks to the efforts of some generous artists, the
STMC is once again becoming
the place to be for superior
Trek models! 8)
I'm afraid despite practice I am an old
Trek Fan with little modelling skill, so I just stick to renders though I guess there's still time to learn!
Just wanted to thank
Erik for the site and the modellers who have been generous with their time and meshes. Its people like yourselves that keep the community going!

Thanks m8. Looking forward to seeing some of your renderwork in the art-section.
I used to do a lot of renders (for my self, not here) untill i decided to make a model of the voyager bridge. (looked easy enough) But how wrong i was. A couple of 100 hours later it's till not finished, but getting there. Mainly because i can draw like shit so i use Google Sketchup to create my models and then export to 3ds Max for textures and finetuning. But, as in all my modeling i have to draw EVERY %@#%@^ line by hand. Maybe some day i truely will master 3ds max modeling.
So dont give up modeling, start with something small like a tricoder or a phaser. And we will be enjoying your models aswell.
Live long and render

Actually I just dived into 3ds Max modelling for the first time this week! I'll post a couple of images of my WIP though I'll confess, the modelling is a nightmare! I've used shapes where I didn't need to, there's probably millions of wasted polygons as well but I'm quite proud of it!
If nothing else its given me a basis from which to refine!
I'll post a couple of images shortly and thanks for the encouragement m8!

Couldn't find the images!! Textures are yet to be done so they're just placeholders at the mo!
Lots of work to do on this and I still ain't anywhere near undestanding MAX!

Hi, Unusualsuspex,
Of all the sites that I know, the STMC is more open to the general public.
The visitor, registered or not, has access to the list of meshes and can download them freely.
Unfortunately, we modelers have not received feedback about our work, which could suit our modeling process to such questions as:
export, animation, compatibility with other 3D software, reapplication of textures, etc. ..
We do not know what are the difficulties facing the other artists to use our meshes.
But it's good to know that there are people like you who are making efforts to learn the model and help others (which only create images or animations) to be part of three-dimensional universe of Star Trek.
Be welcome. 8)

Oi, Unusualsuspex,
Seja bemvindo. 8)

Unusualsuspex,
If you are using Max, do not be afraid to consult the help.
With a library of help large and organized, the difficulties will soon be left behind.
Anyway, you can submit your doubts and try to give you the best option for your work.
Feel free.

Thank you Raul, that's very kind. I will definitely be asking some questions about texturing as so far I haven't tried that.
The work you have done and that of Chainsaw and the other modellers is inspiring!!
