Most of the panel detail is physically built into the model, on the saucer etc, so no need for difficult texturing, (there is a panel texture used as well), although the rings use a texture map, they also have details built into them, the only part left to make now is the rear engine, I'll have to use Marks model as reference to that since none of the other models I've seen have that section no them

A rear view with the newly built engine, based on Mark's model, but not as detailed, this was missing from Tron's model, just a few more bits to fix or more probably build and this is finished, I'm thinking rebuild, since 90% of this is my own work now, I might even just rebuild the other 10% since that'll make it completly my own model, so I can do what I want with it then.

Whats wrong with the windows?
can add a few blinds in a glass texture,if that helps.

They weren't the right size, the should have stretched further back and the frames were really untidy, I've finished it now but for the panelling, which won't take long, then I'll uv map it,
I'll post a pic of ity when it's done

Here's a pic of the new cockpit, it's a lot cleaner than the first one, and the windows are now closer to what Mark originally made

the "cake-slice" lines on the disc...
is that part of the model or the uv mapping ?

That's all model, as are all of the big panels on the rest of the ship, the small panels are the same texture as the Ares and D6.
It's almost complete now, I'm just looking to see if there's anywhere I can improve or if there is any detail missing I can add.
I'll upload it to Mega so you can grab a copy when I convert it

I think I'm about done with this model, if I tried to copy all the detail in Mark's I'd still be at it this time next year. Here's a couple more images
and a link to both an FBX and Collada DEA, (both in the same zip file), with the few textures it needs, I hope it loads up ok.

A
"2nd GENERATION star trek CONCEPT-MODELS" Section
would be interesting, for mesh designers to create there own space-craft designs based on a future star trek spin-off.
Like Thunderbirds, had to re-create and Modernize there
"5" 3d models for their last movie .
Billy , i think you would be good in letting your imagination run riot, in designing New Trek "CONCEPT" models.
perhaps Eric might add an additional section on his website to include and showcase,
mesh designers new-concept star trek ideas for 2017 and Beyond .

You could be onto something there, and as is happens I'm part way through building a SciFi Helicopter, which I put to one side to do these's few conversions, it wouldn't take too much to make it Treklike, textures being a big part, and some Trek looking engines. I'll open it up again and do more work on it, I'll show you it soon

ohhh thats sounds nice.
well.for every NEW Star trek movie or spin off series
do they always use the original star trek models From
1966 ?
I DONT THINK SO
Although i dont know how many space-crafts are
"Standard" in startrek,
when compared to other TV Series like Thunderbirds and star-wars ?
