Hello,
Thanks Raul,
I have tried that but only the original object glows not every object in the ring.

3ds max 2010 system utilisation
Hello all,
Sorry to keep asking what are probably noob type questions but I have another small question to ask.
I use 3ds max 2010 and I've found that when I render anything it only uses 3 or 4gb of ram.
I have a quad core CPU with 16gb of ddr3 with a gtx260 graphics card.
I have windows 7 ...

3ds max sheilds
Hello all,
does anyone know of any way I can create sheilds? I would like the sheild to react when an object hits it.
Like the energy is being dispersed.
So far I have created the phasers by using a path constraint with an object following it, I've sped up the object to complete the path ...

Making a ship look damaged
Hello all,
I want to create the effect of a battle damaged ship using an existing model in 3DS max 2010.
What would be the best way of doing this? ideally I want to create wholes with broken bits of the ship visible.
Thank you

No, the deadline software gives you a choice of plugins for the software you're using. There's loads to choose from. I've set my farm up to do both 3ds max and after effects! I can render with all the fancy settings on and I don't have to worry about sitting waiting for hours for a 10 second scene!

Hello,
Thank you again Chainsaw!
I've been messing around with quite a few settings and watching lots of tutorials on Youtube.
My render times are a lot quicker now!
Thank you

Rendering animation in 3ds max 2010
Hello all,
Sorry again if this seems a bit of a noob type question.
I'm trying to create small 15 to 20 second long scenes in 3ds max. I set the animation bar to use seconds and I reduce the frames per second to 20. I also use 800 x 600 size
